Throwback

Hello my pretties and welcome! It's Halloween and the trick or treaters will be knocking on my door soon so onto today's post. This weeks challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is to choose a previous challenge so I picked the October 2013 "Spooky" challenge. I recently picked up the Tea Time Bigz Die and as your see I turned one of the cups into a caldron. Now my little witch can whip up some witches brew by the light of the Halloween moon. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Halloween!

Welcome! I can't believe that it's almost the end of September. The temps are suppose to drop to what we normally see here in the Twin Cities which makes me happy, the fall is my favorite time of year. Of course next month is Halloween and I've got some new stuff to create with. With that being said today's project was inspired by this month's tag by Tim Holtz but no butterflies were used, muahahaha! Thanks for stopping by!

Citrus with a Twist

Hello and welcome! Before I get to today's post I wanted to say Thank You to everyone that stopped by and commented on my 12 tags blog post. Ok so this week over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog the design team wants to see how we use citrus with a twist. First thing that popped into my head was to create a Halloween themed project using my Tim Holtz Twisted Citron Distress products.

I started by creating a monoprint using Twisted Citron Distress Paint and the Shatter Layering Stencil. I then covered the tag with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and applied a bunch of spiders using the Curiosities Remnant Rubs. Next I stamped one of my favorite birds from Bird Crazy onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock and colored with Distress Markers. I used the new Bird Crazy Thinlits Dies to cut out the bird, his wings and beak. For the witch hat I was inspired by this tutorial by Tammy Tutterow. Before adhering the bird to the tag I attached the fence that I cut from Kraft-Core Cardstock using the On the Fence Die. I finished this twisted tag with some Jute String and a Oddities Token on a Loop Pin. Thanks so much for stopping by!

12 Tags of 2015 - July

Hello and welcome! This month has flown by, August arrives this weekend. Yikes! With that being said it's time to share my version of this month's tag by Tim Holtz. I went with the patriotic theme like Tim but took a detour with a crazy bird or in this case a free bird. Thanks so much for stopping by!

12 Tags of 2015 - June

Hello and welcome! Todays post is my take on this months tag by Tim Holtz. Before the creativity commenced I started the day with a cup of coffee from my favorite shop. I usually recycle the plastic cover and throw away the stirring stick but not today. I cleaned them up and used them on my tag, they worked perfectly with the Fresh Brewed Die. I made my tag to hold a gift card too, what a great idea Tim! Thanks for stopping by!

Due Date

Hello and welcome! There's a new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog called Due Date. These words made me think of a new baby and a design idea that I've had rolling around in my head. I began by stamping one of the birds from the Bird Crazy stamp set on a #5 manila tag. I colored the bird with distress inks using a piece of mini ink blending foam. I used the same technique to apply mermaid lagoon distress ink to the background. For the egg I used a die cut oval shape from my stash that I painted and inked. To finish I added a little grass, a bow and one of the new typed tokens. I think the look on this birds face gives you an idea of the day that he's had! Thanks for stopping by!

B is for . . .

The challenge over at Simon Says Stamp this week is to use this letter as inspiration or share what B stands for in your crafting. Check out the Monday Challenge Blog for all the details.

For my project B is for birthdays! I started by coloring a piece of manila cardstock with distress spray stain. I stamped one of the birds from Bird Crazy and "happy birthday" from Handwritten Sentiments on the manila cardstock. Next I stamped the bird again on watercolor paper, colored him with distress inks and cut out. For the balloon I used a punch, kraft-core cardstock, sandpaper, distress ink and string. I then adhered the bird and balloon to the manila cardstock. To finish I attached it all to a A2 card created from kraft-core cardstock. I gotta say, that bird makes me smile. This stamp set is definitely one of my favorites from Tim's latest release. Thanks for stopping by!

Baby it's cold outside

I'm dreaming of someplace warm today so I pulled out a pack of the Found Relatives Cards and found this fabulous portrait of 3 gals enjoying themselves on a beach somewhere, perfect!

I started by creating a A2 card with kraft cardstock. Next I colored a piece of manila cardstock with faded jeans distress spray stain and gathered twigs distress ink. I used the bubble die from the Mixed Media Thinlits pack to cut the lower right hand corner and then adhered a piece of patterned paper to the back. I cut the portrait to fit on the card and added some remnant rubs. The starfish was in my stash, see Tim's blog post here on how to create it. I colored a piece of cheesecloth with gathered twigs distress ink and adhered the starfish to it.

I'm entering this in the "Anything Goes" Challenge over at Simon Says Stamp. Check out the Monday Challenge Blog for all the details. Thanks for stopping by!

Distress Watercoloring - Part 2

Hello and welcome! I'm back, after a short blog break, with a project for the Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge series. Our hostess for this crafty journey is the lovely Linda Ledbetter, check out her blog for all the details. Challenge #20 is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, one of my favorite online stores, with a $25 shopping spree for one lucky entry.

The technique for this challenge is Distress Watercoloring - Part 2, see page 40 of Tim's latest book for the instructions. I used the cupcake image from the Birthday Blueprint Stamp Set for my watercolored piece and then adhered it to some patterned paper. Next I added a few embellishments. I wanted to include a photo from one of the Found Relatives packs so I cut out a girl from a birthday party photo and adhered it to a piece of Film Strip Ribbon. Finally I attached everything to a kraft top fold card. Thanks for stopping by!
