Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - June

Love Tim's tag for June, the man is so creative! I really liked the monoprint technique that he used to create the colorful watercolor background. That's where my journey began.

I knew that I wanted to use the sea horse image from the Nautical Blueprint set on my tag. With that in mind I chose 5 colors of Distress Ink and the Dot Fade Layering Stencil to create the background. I finally pulled it all together this past weekend with the bow. Thanks for stopping by!

#CC3C - Layering Stencil: Texture Paste Technique

For Challenge #4, see Linda Ledbetter's blog for all the details, I knew that I wanted to use a new stamp set that I got recently called Nautical Blueprint. I purchased it from The Funkie Junkie Boutique, they are sponsoring this challenge with a $25 gift certificate. This was my second order from Linda Coughlin, the owner, great prices and awesome customer service.

So on to my project for this challenge. I did a search on the internet for pictures of starfish and found a really cool looking one. I stamped the image from the Nautical Blueprint set onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock and then cut it out. Next I placed my Crocodile Layering Stencil on the image and used Tim's technique on page 49 of his book. I love how the starfish turned out! To showcase it I put it on a Mini Burlap Panel that I covered with Tissue Wrap and Distress Paint. Thanks for stopping by!

#CC3C - Faux Tea Rose Technique

Lots of things going on this week and I have a wedding shower this weekend. So I thought Challenge #3, see Linda Ledbetter's blog for all the details, was the perfect opportunity to create a gift card. Inspiration Emporium is sponsoring this challenge with a $50 Gift Certificate!

I began by turning to page 65 of Tim's awesome book, A Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3. Luckily I had the die for this technique! Once I had my rose made I pulled out a Cabinet Card Frame, sanded the edges and covered it with Remnant Rubs. The picture of the happy couple is a Found Relative Card. Thanks for stopping by!
